Im gonna tell you a little about what i like to think about
I wont yell it, scream it or give big shout
I’l tell you in a gentle voice, so you’l here its truth
Im here to tell you that the universe loves you
You may cling to your theories and stories, and fears,
But i’m really not that interested and if you start to debate me i might have to cover my ears
Im gonna remind you that your life has a purpose
This butterfly effect that exists because your on the earths surface
Whatever your politics, your creed or your tribe.
Whatever you’ve been through, and what you try to hide
Your a beautiful creation, completely perfect as you stand
Just embrace the reality of that, you are from the holy land
And if you sit in the silence of yourself in the dark
No distractions or mind games you’l might feel the spark.
You’l hear it quietly coming out of your heart
I love you
I said the universe loves you,
You may get lost in the existential crises, the philosophy brain tumors
the gambling of dices. You may subdue to the pain that you feel from your history, the karmic consequences of a lineage left to the big mystery.
I say it to the women of Iraq who woke up one day with a bomb in their home
Their dead sons and daughters their spirits left to roam
I say it to the hungry children of sudan
To my brothers and sisters in the Philippine lands
To my own indigenous blood that faced mass genocide,
To the Royal Ottawa hospital where my labelled schitzophrenic brother resides
To the addicts, crack cocaine, consumerism and television,
Go back to the source and remember the vision
The universe loves you
You may want to fight me, say i’m opting out
Maybe i’m just some crazy hippie on acid saying wierd shit like your life has a reason.
But hey... Theres no need to participate in that treason
Be very clear and do not misunderstand
I’m not saying Its just about holding hands
We will make the world a more beautiful place
Our prayer beads and picket signs on parliament do hold space
Its not as complex as you try to make it
The oneness ripples through the illusion of separation
And i have to tell you i am sick and tired of this intellectual masturbation.
You cant fight fuelled by despair, guilt shame and hate
You’l burn out fast, don’t take the bait
Take for example those at sharbot lake
The Algonquin protectors of the land knew who they were
They knew the great creator was there with them, of that they were sure
Talk to anybody who has experienced true loss
Most of them have a story about God
Except in this country where people are too smart. Sometimes i wonder if its from smelling the fart of the system that spews out a hegemony.
Where people are encouraged and like to be lonely
Where bachelor apartments make up most of the for rents
And people isolate themselves and cover up their scents
A society where obesity and mental illness are an epedimic,
Disconnected from our bodies and our minds its a relic
intellectualize my corny slam poem all you like
i’m gonna die a happy woman with depth that spreads light
oh my i seem to have got caught up in a defence, i probably appear quite tense
no need to worry, i’m pretty sure of what i said, i’l stop talking to you like your heads are made of lead
so just take a bite of this simple truth
Chew it slowly, swallow it and let it sooth
The universe loves you
And there’s nothing you can do to stop it
So you might as well sit down, smile, look at the sky and eat some fair trade chocolate.
