trendy neighbourhood inbetween p[arkdale and the go train; plenty of converted factories with red brick, reminescent ufo moalawi of wheyn canada was still a baby, maturing to the economicly driven ness you now stand in. it stand in you. the industrial art i was lucky to particiate in was a great designed montross of a plastic candelaire. their was peanuts on the work bench adn surf boards inthe bathroom. this artists could hire worksers ( although i simply worked a few hours for a bicycle tune up) and clearly had hobbby, and dare i say beautiful ideas. i though while i thred metal stings thru plastic rods the evolution of art, how it has become detached from the process of production and became a idea generation venture, akin to advertising€but less often transparent. was this piece destined for a grand hall, a common building idea with out action solid to city hall and put on diplay as tax dollars supporting the people who pay them and making a big produciton out of it. ONce i returned home to the broken couch party, i agian experienced the senstaion of peace and knowing. i had felt it before in the state of euphoria and my logical mind knows the idea well, but the experience is certainly not a constant state, more like the fl;oating of a healium ballon

a day before

environment: the eve of my leave. absent is a state of mind not simply a locationary descirber.
accepting my obsession with past, if only i came from a comfortable family....uh wait i did, yet i am still hungury for more. blessed with tap water ( mereji?) health care and the welfare state. free to decide, design and procrastinate. survival was never a nesicessity the lesiure of life puts a certain spin on my own raison d'etre. i wonder so well that my throat gets partched with out even uttering a single word. longing for a silent- still place where i wont be tempted away from the deep well of myself. i plunge and swirl. admist the questions i remain genuine in my shadows and strenghts

call for inspiration
location: Greenpeace office
environment: avoiding the tick tok of the clock, the hushed breathing of all the other activist training particpants who are sleeping in preparation of the 6am activities. now my mind is a race, the itching kicks in, i am fidigity and ansy. I smuggle my way on to a computer to again loose a opportunity to my lack of bi-ligualism.itomoroow i swear it will be better but gradually the time passes without kesho ever turning around. i loook back years, same goals but without an ounce of progression. litttle efort makes sarah a silly anglophone. the allergic anger fades to a sad, the one i feel when i wake up and have to make maps, instead of pursue any of the own ideas. I carry around so much resentment and posion. Generally i save it up to cry when no one is around me but sometimes i throw it up on to my closes union steward. dam the winter, dam the urbanites who see my eyes but refuse to breathe my air dam the plot to a xrayed film dam the very idea of being a tormented or even a famous artist. China before the olympica, new zealand on someone elses dime. visitn friends in france and sweden and scotland. i want to live in a car this summer. to face paint whereever the car can take me. to follow my whims and not my common sense. to have romance where i can be free enought to share emotions without surrending them, to inspire people to love but not the overwhellming magnet which draws the poles off course.

my future ocean- letter

environment: itchy, sick, relaxed, recooperating
My name is Sarah Fowler; I am an independent media artist who is very familiar with the work of Greenpeace, as i am currently employed with Greenpeace Canada. My commitment has stretched from ideological to financial when I became a frontline member in 2004. I am aware of current campaigns strategies and intend to make a feature length documentary about life on the seas and would adore a trip on the rainbow warrior. My best trait is to cross-pollinate art and awareness, inspiring activism. As a collaborative designer, I tell stories which expand perceptions, open lines of communication and act as catalysts for creativity.
Through my experiences I have applied skills which have shaped me into an ideal candidate for the position. I am ready to combine creative visions with dynamic actions. My campaign experience outside of Greenpeace includes organizing a fair trade chocolate petition (postcard signing) against Nestle. By being involved with the WIAM's One World's Film Festival I had the opportunity to act as a liason between "Hot Docs" and WIAM, thus building industry contacts and developing a set of best practices. While working as a MP's assistant, I balanced dealing with government officials and consituancy corresspondance. As the president of the board of directors at IFCO I became familiar with conflict resolution and acted as a spokesperson to the media. This role also allowed me to organize events in a community of near 200 independant artists. When I lived in Dr. Jane Goodall's house in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania I had access to a wealth of materials including conservation managment theories and human animal co-habitation techniques that helped me to give more informed talks to students on behalf of Roots & Shoots; JGI. Although I have produced many sorts of campaigning literature or propganda, I can attest to developing film promo materials for my own projects and would liken it to the process of boiling down an idea until it is at its most eye cathcing and recievable.
Whether verbal, written or abstract I love to express ideas, debate and negotiate a compromise acceptable to all parties. My leadership skills spawn from a strong vision of interdependence yet simultaneous integrates instinct, judgement, logic and team building. Although I am extremely flexible, I consider my organizing skills to be the most diverse and useful no matter the situation. My reasons for committing to Greenpeace's efforts to protect fragile marine ecosystem are based on the impressive track record of past campaigns and the sheer power a large organization can yield as being catalyst to change. I view Greenpeace International as a trans-global collective bargaining unit of 40 countries designed to work within the framework and negotiate towards healthier human management of the great depths. The respect of water, both salt and sweet leads me towards embracing it's symbolic peacefulness while still understanding the churning waves of discourse and civil disobedience.
I gather inspiration constantly and have found oceans to be a diverse foundation from which to build. I see life interwoven in the medium of water. My involvement with ocean issues, ecology and conservation stretches over the last six years and includes personal observations in the Pacific, Atlantic and most recently the Indian Ocean, along the coast of Eastern Africa. Most species studied were sand dwellers including hermit crabs and jelly fish. Studying migrations of specific species which were influenced by lunar pulls and currents thrilled me as I was introduced to things I had never seen before. My excursions included some fresh water scuba, observing the nest of the cyclids in Lake Malawi. Closer to home I have visited Roche Perce, Quebec and taken 8mm footage of whales. In St. John's Newfoundland I tried desperately to spot puffins, despite being there too early in the season. The fact that I have been casually studying French for nearly ten years sadly amounts to my best asset is lip syncing to Harmonium.
Nowadays I can be found in Toronto as I work in the door canvassing division of the fundraising program with Greenpeace Canada. I have a valid passport, drivers licence and have demonstrated my willingness to travel since I moved from London to work with Greenpeace in November. I am currently working in the evenings and just today, Saturday, I voluntarily hosted the Greenpeace information booth at a NGO fair during a University of Toronto Global Citizenship Conference.

the great lakes

ummm i guess i went on a another small trip before i paid off my last one... hmmmmm
environment: dimlight basement appartment on california road.. belonging to zach harris.. tonite billy and travis came over and wee had a moment.. billy know sam roberts and he just had a kid. ( any fans reading this.. the news is fresh jan 7th -ish no baby names yet?) i came south thru customs to visit with my girl tamarathere is a photto of her on this blog site already.. visiting old friends at new times can help boost each other in to new phases of bliss. .. she live in france but went down to mephis for xmas. we all have our challanging times adn our simple times.. it is all in the waiting.. when i was expecting her to pic me at the bus terminal i got a jesus paper from a loud black lady who said i loooked like a teacher.. the story ... if not the author was one that sang in my heart. we are all connected.. ha i already knew.. i only i could experience more fully... if wait maybe when ..hmmmmm. so topics of conversation in america today... movies... books.. capital punishment and marijanana. plus the mysterious canadian identity. and how lake ontario and erie may be mirror reflections of each other...
