RE: PRESS RELEASE; Art & Photo Contest

Introduction

Roots & Shoots is an Environmental and Humanitarian Education Programmed for Youth, established in Dar as Salaam, 19th, February 1991, by Dr. Jane Goodall; and currently is found in more than 70 Countries in the World. The Programmed is executed through the Jane Goodall Institute a non-profit Organization devoted to wildlife Research, Conservation and Education. Roots & Shoots believes in young people involvement and in supporting our communities.

Art & Photo Contest Fundraiser
In order to fundraise for a historical field trip for 100 students from Dar es Salaam to Bagamoyo, Roots & Shoots is asking all interested people to become creatively engaged in our environment. This is an opportunity for hobbyists and professional artist to exhibit there talents to their peers and community members. It is also a chance to help support local youth with regional and cultural education. Roots & Shoots goal is to provide education and promote collective responsibility because young people are a reason for hope.

We will be hosting an open Art & Photo contest, for all ages with the general theme of the PLANT-ANIMAL-HUMAN- a peaceful unity. This is to be an interpretive guideline and it is meant to inspire new understanding of our natural environment. We welcome all entries from different mediums and intend to use the artwork collected to promote local and international artists. However, we also anticipate that this inspired avenue will help to bring awareness of the situation of orphaned or abandoned street children and how we all can offer support.

Consider this your call from the wild; we asking for submissions of both art and photography to be accompanied by the entry form which also outline the rules of the competition.
The early-bird deadline for entries will be JUNE 5, 2006 (WORLD ENVIRONEMENT DAY) with the last minute deadline of JUNE 15, 2006 before 4pm.
The awards ceremony will be held JUNE 16, 2006 (AFRICAN CHILD DAY).

We are requesting any interested organizations or businesses to get involved with the project by making any possible monetary or in-kind donations. Our goal is to raise 50 000tsh to help support local Roots & Shoots Clubs in primary and secondary schools.
BECOME INVOLVED IN YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY & NAUTRAL SPACES.
